Admittedly, my study of the Tablets of Law in films has focused primarily on English language movies. That’s simply because there have been more of them—as far as I am aware. But I realize that I have always relied upon English language sources to point me in various directions. I trusted that, if other relevant films existed in other languages, someone would have written about them in English. I now see that as a possible fallacy. My wakeup call came in the form of an Arabic video posted on You Tube. There, it has the name Moses 88.

The list shows that it was posted by TouchingHeartislam two years ago (circa 2012) and as of 11/29/2014, it had 1,079,596 views. However, after clicking on the link, it appears to have been posted by “The Gods Stories.”
The actual title of the film is Musa (Moses in Arabic). Moses is played by Lutfi Nuwasyer. The film was directed by Victor Kamar and was produced in 2008 by R & H Media Productions.
Even without knowing Arabic, it is clear that this two-hour telling closely follows the biblical narrative—perhaps more closely than any English version produced thus far. It also seems that, on the few occasions that the biblical narrative is at odds with the story as told in the Quran, the film generally presents the Biblical version. (That statement is based only on my understanding of the visuals, and it is possible that the Arabic dialogue may present a somewhat different view.)
Near the end of the film, Moses is seen atop the mountain. Two blank tablets lay before him.
Their inspiration may have come from this piece of art:
Strangely, in the tablets shown in this film, the commandment that should be engraved on the top of the second tablet (the one on the left) is out of order and found at the very bottom of the tablet!

I wish to thank Sarah El Neweihi for providing me with a translation of the Arabic credits.
